The Institute of Health Studies at the Technical University of Liberec was established on the 1st December 2004 as an independent unit within TUL. The foundation of the institute complies with European Union requirements concerning the education of regulated non-medical professions.

The Institute of Health Studies TUL offers a corresponding study programme and quality higher education acquirements. It has a full time three-year bachelor study programme in nursing. The programme was conceived in order to meet the requirements of professional theory and practical training for general nurses responsible with health care.

The Institute of Health Studies TUL admits into its study programme, applicants who have graduated from secondary school of general or vocational orientation, passed the examination of the school-leaving certificate and fulfilled the requirements of the school entry criteria.
Teaching takes place in the specialized classrooms and laboratories of TUL, Secondary Health School and Higher Health School in Liberec, in addition to The Regional Hospital of Liberec.

The Institute of Health Studies TUL gives the students the opportunity to study thorough modern methods and procedures in health care. Students have use of well equipped classrooms and a high-quality background, to realize professional nursing practices in the specialized clinical workplaces of the Regional Hospital Liberec. Lecturers are among specialists and experts from medical institutes and faculties, and doctors from hospitals.

The Institute of Health Studies TUL also exercises science, research, and development activities in cooperation with The Regional Hospital Liberec, The Regional Hygienic Clinic of Liberec and other institutions.
