Aplicants for study

The Technical University of Liberec (TUL) is the only public university in the Liberec district. It has 10000 students.

TUL is very interesting for foreign students.The University offers a one-year Czech language course, after which students can apply to study courses taught in Czech at any of the faculties in Liberec, or at other universities.

The majority of TUL study programmes are accredited in Czech and Engllish.

Tuition fees are charged for  courses taught in English, while courses taught in Czech are free of charge.

The principles of study organization

The law standard, which the internal regulations of the TUL proceed from, is the Higher Education Act and of a Change and Completing of Further Laws Act (Act on Universities) Number 111/98 Sb., in the valid wording.
 The basic issues referring to educational activity are administered (among others) by the Statut of the Technical University of Liberec.
Further internal regulations which administer the area of study and educational activity at the Technical University of Liberec are: The Study and Exam Regulations of the Technical University of Liberec and the Scholarship Regulations of the Technical University of Liberec (see the legislation). Further specifying standards for the area of study and educational activity are published by the deans of particular faculties.
 The Study and Exam Regulations administer, among others, the organization of study at Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programmes realized at particular parts of the Technical University of Liberec. There are these rules set by the regulations:

The academic year lasts 12 months; its beginning is set by the Chancellor. The academic year is divided into the winter semester and summer semester. It consists of teaching and examination period and the holidays period. The length of particular periods is set by the Academic Year Schedule.
