The fundamental task of the Faculty is to provide professional training to future teachers for primary education (pupils of the age group 6-10) and elementary education (pupils aged 11-15). In Mathematics and Informatics, Physics and Czech the qualification programmes are accredited also for training of teachers at secondary schools (students aged 15-18). The history of this type of education in Liberec is more than 200-year old. Apart from education of future teachers, the Faculty also provides Bachelor degree courses for specialists in humanities and natural sciences. The students of the Faculty are enrolled in programmes taught in Czech.
The Department of Continuing Education prepares further qualification courses and courses of pedagogy and psychology for in-service teachers and other experts from practice. There is also the University Sports Medicine Centre providing various services and consultations to people involved in sports.
For their study stays, students from Erasmus+ partner universities select various subjects taught in English (or Spanish and/or German). Their list is specified for each academic year. In the academic year 2015/16 the choice can be seen here and it is seen the repertoire is really wide. There are courses available on playing musical instruments, visual arts, pedagogy and psychology, philosophy, mathematics, languages, chemistry and geography. Numerous students come for participating in professional internships and PhD. students from abroad apply for teaching stays.
