Nisa University

Nisa University is an international university network integrating a joint study project of three Central-European universities: Technical University of Liberec, Wroclaw University of Technology and University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz. This project is unique in Europe; it is a step forward towards the creation of a joint European sector of higher education. The study programme in the English language is accredited in each state. Nisa University is also accredited by the independent institute ACQIN.

Nisa University provides a bachelor study programme in Systems Engineering and Informatics, study branch: Information and Communication Management. Every academic year, the studies take place in a different country. The first academic year is provided by the Technical University of Liberec, the second takes place in Poland's Jelena Gora and Wroclaw and the final in Germany's Gorlitz and Zittau. English is the teaching language, but students also study the language of the host country. They can then have a knowledge of two additional foreign languages, and obtain an understanding relating to the cultural context of the neighbouring countries. The offered study branch is very prospective. A Nisa University graduate is trained not only to work out economic analysis, but also, to create computer programmes adjusted to their employers needs.

Nisa University enrols, in the first academic year, ten students from each country, Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. Each country carries out the entry procedure of its own students.

Nisa University is able to prepare for the future professions flexible European specialists. The advantage of this unique study experiment is a good language base and a practical knowledge of life and institutions in the three states. After graduating from the bachelor study programme, students hold the title of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and can, of course, continue in a joint master programme at any university.

• Before the beginning of the first academic year, an intensive language course takes place in the Technical University of Liberec. During summer holidays, the future students of the International University go through a free ten-day English language course taught by native teachers and intended to complete knowledge in specialized vocabulary. Students are then accommodated at the University Halls of Residence in Liberec.
• Students are granted accommodation at university halls of residence in Czech Republic and Poland. In Germany, they can rent a convenient lodging whereas charges are compensated by a scholarship.
• Graduates praise the study process at Nisa International University. Upon graduation, the majority can claim they have lucrative employment offers.
• Nisa University is preparing new international master programmes following up the bachelor study programme:
  • The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is preparing two study programmes to be accredited:  Environmental Health and Safety Risk Management with orientation towards environment protection, which is in demand in Western Europe and the USA, and the study branch Machining and Assembly.
  • The Faculty of Textile engineering TUL is preparing the study programme Textile Techniques, oriented towards prospective technical textiles (geo-textiles for automobile industry, recycled textile, etc...). Our Polish counterpart is preparing the study programme Architecture, oriented towards restoration and maintenance of regional architecture. The demand of this study branch is related to the protection of the Nisa regions landscape character.
