Study program Applied Sciences in Engineering is characterised by application and/or improvement of mathematical methods and physical theory in relation to various engineering applications.
The particular study areas and thesis topics include: numerical simulation of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical problems in geo-materials, a-posteriori error estimates for problems on mixed meshes, numerical and experimental analysis of fluid-structure interaction, numerical solution of non-smooth CFD problems, membrane bioreactors for industrial wastewater treatment, nanofiber filters and membranes (surface modification and application), microbial processes in bentonite in spent nuclear fuel repository, tomography of ferroelectric domains, modelling of ferroelectric semiconductors and metamaterials, digital holography, advanced interferometry, optical measurement in fluid mechanics. The graduate will be prepared both for academic career and for industrial research in a leading role.
