Department of Social Studies and Special Education

Head: PhDr. Pavel Kliment, Ph.D.

Our programs are aimed at adult professionals who need to gain a higher qualification, or qualification in a different field, as a result of legislative changes in their chosen profession. Nevertheless, our department also offers its programs full-time, not only part-time. The study program Special Education trains professionals for special-needs prevention, education and intervention. The program Social Work prepares students to work in the regulated profession of social worker in accordance with legislation. Our courses of further education allow those enrolled to fulfill the requested qualification necessary to perform specific activities or work in specific professions. Our educational model in all of programs and courses mentioned above is based on the same foundations: a multidisciplinary approach, a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual perspective, and an emphasis on ethics and critical thinking.

What can you experience at the department?

During your studies at the department, you can participate in our research activities and can study abroad in the framework of the Erasmus+ program. You can also meet professionals in your field through lectures and workshops and participate in off-campus activities related to your chosen program (volunteering at children and adults with special needs, participating in nationwide fundraising campaigns and charities, etc.)
