Educational goals

The aim of the study is to prepare qualified, university-educated specialists for special pedagogical prevention, education and intervention. Graduates will acquire knowledge and skills in the field of methodology, preventive measures, communication strategies that can be applied to people with special needs. The study prepares students for a potential entry into a follow-up master’s study focusing on special pedagogy or a related field. Practical preparation gives the graduate the opportunity to apply also in pedagogical practice, where direct work is carried out with individuals with special needs.

Profile of the graduate

The graduates gained knowledge from the general special pedagogy and from particular special education disciplines. They are able to professionally reflect individuals with special needs, support them in their socialization, participate in education and education, respect their anatomical-physiological, developmental and personality traits. For this purpose, they can use special methods and individualized forms of care for these individuals. Graduates are ready to perform special pedagogical activities focused on direct work with individuals with special needs. They are capable of effective transdisciplinary co-operation with other professionals and specialists, especially in the field of helping professions. Graduates have professional prerequisites for organizing functional mechanisms in the interest of comprehensive protection of the quality of life of a person with the need for special support. They can apply preventive, diagnostic and intervention strategies according to the individual needs of the individual and carry out basic counselling activities. Graduates are familiar with the use of various communication techniques. They are able to perform methodological, analytical and conceptual activities in the field of special pedagogy, to analyse special pedagogical problems separately and to take appropriate measures. They have an overview of the current legislation on care for people with special needs. Graduates understand the situation of an individual with special needs, facilitate their socialization in society, and promote the versatile development of an individual while respecting his / her special needs in order to prevent the negative impacts of disability on his / her personality and to allow for a life full of life.

Admission procedure

Students will be admitted to the bachelor study program Special Education based on the results of their secondary education, or on the basis of written tests verifying the knowledge and skills of the secondary school curriculum needed for study.
