The New Czech | German | Polish Scholarship Programme
Gain international experience while studying at TUL.
The Trilateral Scholarship Programme brings together students and institutions from the Czech Republic (TUL), Germany (Saxony), and Poland (Lower Silesia), along with partners from Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
You will spend one semester at the Technical University of Liberec (TUL), collaborate on international innovation projects, and complete short-term internships in Germany and Poland.
The programme is designed to help you build practical experience, expand your network, and explore career opportunities in an international environment.

- September 2026 – Start of the winter semester 2026/2027

Who can apply?
- 3 students with Czech citizenship
- 3 students with German citizenship
- 3 students with Polish citizenship
- 2 students from Africa
- 2 students from Asia
- 2 students from Latin America
- For students in all fields of study (offered at TUL)
- The university does not need to be a partner institution, as long as the student is pursuing a full degree.
- English level B2 (similar to IELTS: 5-6.5, or TOEFL: 87 to 109)
To apply, you must have completed:
- at least 1 year of a Bachelor’s degree, or
- 1 semester of a Master’s degree, or
- 1 year of a PhD programme
Scholarship support
Students receive financial support for the full 5-month semester:
| CZ / DE / PL students: €600/month + €210 one-time contribution | Non-EU students: €850/month + €1700 one-time contribution |
The scholarship helps cover living costs, accommodation, and travel (plus health insurance for non-EU students).
The scholarship will be paid in cash on a monthly basis in Czech crowns or by transfer to a Czech bank account.
Main Student Activities
Study at TUL in various fields. Each semester includes exams and a 14-day work placement in Germany and Poland.
Academic:
- Study at TUL according to the current study offer
- Courses focused on global trends, innovation and regional development
- Cooperation between universities in Czechia, Germany and Poland
- Minimum 15 ECTS credits per semester required
- Czech students: at least 2 courses in English
- 14-day internship in Germany + 14-day internship in Poland
- Transcript of Records (ToR) for recognition at home university
Practical:
- Project work on international opportunities and innovation (CZ–DE–PL mentors)
- Final presentation at conference (July 2026 / January 2027)
- Development of English (plus optionally German and Polish)
- Real-world internships in companies using English
- Training in communication and presentation skills
- Recommendation letters from universities, companies or public institutions
Cultural:
- Excursions to cultural and historical sites in the trilateral region
- Participation in events organised by the Liberec Regional Authority
- Networking across Czechia, Germany and Poland
- Cultural exchange and sharing traditions between students
- Optional promotion of activities on social media (with consent via university channels)
Student Selection Process
The selection takes place in two steps:
1. Pre-selection
- For students from Germany and Poland: at your home university
- For students from the Czech Republic and other countries: at TUL (faculty level)
At this stage, your eligibility is assessed (including English level – minimum B2).
2. Final selection
A committee from TUL and the Liberec Region selects the final participants and ranks them.
If a selected student declines the scholarship, the spot is offered to the next applicant in line.
What to prepare:
- Completed application (via your university/application form)
- Cover letter with your project topic (focus on global opportunity, identifying opportunities for collaboration in innovation, and fostering professional exchange in the trilateral region)
- Academic results / transcript of previous studies
Tuition fees
- Students from CZ, DE, and PL: no tuition fees
- Students from other countries: tuition fees may apply depending on the chosen study programme
